Roddy : Well, there's not much to tell. Rita : You know everything about me, warts and all. I don't even know what you do. Roddy : I'm I'm in a boy band. Roddy : Yeah. Yeah, I'm the posh one. Spike : Blimy, it's cold. Whitey : That's why I wore me mittens. Spike : Wha Hitmen don't wear mittens! Take them off! You're embarrasing me! Whitey : It's all right for you. You've got little hands.
They don't freeze as much. Rita : What are you, some kind of rat boomerang? Give me back my ruby! Roddy : I haven't got your ruby! Roddy : Okay. Well, now I've got your ruby. Roddy : Will you please tell these people I'm not involved in this? Rita : Fine. All right, all right, listen up. This gentleman, he's not from around here. Roddy : Thank you. Rita : Just look how nicely he's dressed. Roddy : Ah, thank you. Rita : And why? Because he's an international jewel thief! Roddy : Precisely No, no!
Rita : This is quite tasty. Roddy : Thanks. Rita is a streetwise scavenger rat who meets Jackman's society rat after he is flushed out of his Kensington flat and into the sewer city of Ratropolis.
Rita helps him find his way home and, of course, save the city, despite the machinations of a vengeful toad played by Ian McKellen. Andy Serkis and, in another recent addition to the cast, Bill Nighy voice the villain's hench-rats. Production will start imminently but will take place in Los Angeles, a first for the famously quirky Bristol company.
While Aardman has a modest CGI arm for TV and commercials, the company's previous features have been in pioneering claymation. The company opted for CGI over claymation because of the amount of water in the film and the scope of the picture, which will depict the busy sewer city under London's streets.
With the company's trademark animation characters Wallace and Gromit, human figures are only a full inches tall; here, the rats are roughly life-size. Shooting on that project ends in April. Screen International is the essential resource for the international film industry.
