The Stainless slide alloy frame and Blued slide alloy frame are out of production but can be found used. These are readily available at gunbroker and some of the whole sellers get police trade in guns which dealers can get. A lot of used Police pistols are carried a lot and fired little and can be a good bargain.
Some of the used police pistol with a lot of wear can be bought cheap but still function. Some of these pistols look a lot better after replacing the grips and touching up the finish on the aluminum frames or blueing on the slides. Great Pistols! Mine goes everywhere with me.
Never have been a big fan of plastic pistols, but to each thier own!! I own two of them. They are great little pistols. I bought them both in the last two years. Tank, but shoots great. Are these still practical guns? I mean are they still produced, are parts available, etc?
On a different note, thank you all for contributing. I literally just watched the movie, and without doing any of my own homework, just posted this. I appreciate it. They're very practical guns. They're lightweight and easy to conceal, and still very comfortable and easy to shoot. There just used to be so many of them in police holsters that turned into PD trade ins on the market, that they don't command a high price.
As the supply dries up, people are "discovering" just how good a gun they were. I don't think you'll see "collector" status any time soon, but if you're going to buy one, nows the best time. Find a deal on a nice used one. They're still out there. Parts are still available on the net. There's not much that will break in these guns to begin with. I picked up a with 3 mags and holster a few years ago from a LEO buddy.
I use it as a "truck gun" and it sees a lot of time at the range. Here is my and my They are both incredible weapons for the price.
My is a police trade in and my was brand new from CDNN when they were closed out of production.
